Chicago winters can be horrific, especially if your car or truck conks out on you in the middle of a snowstorm. James A. Kuhlmey of Elite Auto Body, located on Chicago’s northwest side, advises car and truck owners to get ready for winter before the first snowfall.  “Examine the exterior, check under the hood and prepare the cabin area,” Kuhlmey stated.

Check your wipers – replace them if they’ve been slapping time for more than a year.
Check your tires – make sure your tires are properly pressurized for the best possible traction during those nasty icy and snowy road conditions. And when you hit one of those monstrous Chicago pot holes, your wheels are more likely to survive if your tires are properly inflated. Tire pressure “generally drops about one psi for every 10 degree fall in temperature,” according to Elite Auto Body’s Kuhlmey.
